Escape From WP (escapefromwp.com) is a free tool that copies a public website you submit and rebuilds it as a self-contained EmDash or static site. This policy explains what we collect, why, and who else is involved. We keep it short because we keep the data minimal.
What we collect
- Your email address. You give it to us so we can email you the download link when your rebuilt site is ready. If you opt in, we also use it to follow up about moving off WordPress. You can ask us to delete it at any time.
- The website URL you submit. We fetch that public site, render its pages, and download its images and fonts to build your copy. We only process sites you confirm you own or have the right to copy.
- Basic anti-abuse data. To stop spam and abuse we record a one-way hashed form of your IP address (not the raw IP) and rate-limit how many builds come from the same source. We do not use this to track you across other websites.
Cookies & analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used (page views, rough traffic sources). This sets analytics cookies. We do not sell your data or run advertising trackers.
Bot protection — Cloudflare Turnstile
To tell real visitors from bots, our forms are protected byCloudflare Turnstile. Turnstile runs silently in the background and may collect information about your device and browser to make that determination. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf. Your use of Turnstile on this site is governed by Cloudflare'sTurnstile Privacy Addendumand Cloudflare'sPrivacy Policy.
Other services we rely on
- Cloudflare — hosting, storage, and the build pipeline for your copied site.
- WordPress.com / rendering infrastructure — used to capture and render the public site you submit.
- Our email provider — used only to send you the download link and any follow-up you opted into.
How long we keep things
Download links and the rebuilt copy are temporary and expire. We don't keep an archive of copied sites. Your email stays on file only as long as needed to deliver your download and, if you opted in, to follow up — until you ask us to remove it.
